    Prayers, donations honour social workers

    Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre’s (PJSC) Medical Social Work Department organised a Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran recitation event as well as a presentation of donations to orphans at Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong yesterday.

    Minister of Health and PJSC Chairman Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd !sham bin Haji Jaafar and PJSC Executive Director Dr Haji Mazrul Adimin bin Haji Awang Besar attended the ceremony.

    The ceremony held in conjunction with World Social Work Day 2024 commenced with recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil, followed by Doa Kesyukuran led by Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque imam Muhd Amaluddin bin Haji Jamaluddin.

    Some 17 orphans from patients under the Medical Social Work Department received donations from the PJSC lbadah Friendly Hospital (IFH) Committee.

    The ceremony continued with the presentation of certificates to 10 patients who participated in therapeutic group activities organised by PJSC’s Rehabilitation Department.

    The ceremony concluded with a tazkirah by PJSC Head Religious Officer and PJSC IFH Committee Chairperson Haji Iskhandar bin Haji Buntar, followed by iftar.

    During the holy month, various therapeutic group activities are organised including workshops where patients make tasbih, cookies, and bookmarks to share with PJSC staff, patients and their families.

    Additionally, prayer workshops are held to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients during treatment.

    The activities create a sense of celebration and preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri despite health challenges, emphasising the importance of inclusivity and mutual respect for everyone.

    The ceremony also served as a tribute to the global community of social workers and highlighted PJSC’s commitment to fostering compassion and support within society.

    World Social Work Day, celebrated annually on the third Tuesday of March, honours the contributions of social workers worldwide.
