Prayer is a pillar of the religion because in it all the five pillars are repeated five times each day and night, said imam at Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis/Madang Muhammad Khaizuran Amali bin Haji Kamsani during the Munajat on Saturday.
“Prayer also prevents us from committing heinous and evil deeds, which means, as long as we pray, we are in a state of obedience,” he said.
He added that Al-Imam Al-Baihaqi narrated that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, “Prayer is the pillar of religion. Whoever abandons it, he destroys the religion”.
Advisor of the Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong led the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah during the Munajat night organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
Mosque takmir committee members, congregants from Kampong Penanjong Mosque in Tutong District, Kampong Belais Mosque in Temburong District and 67 other mosques nationwide; as well as MoRA staff and their family members joined the weekly congregation. – Azlan Othman
