KUALA LUMPUR (BERNAMA) – Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (SRT) rider Fabio Quartararo has sounded an early warning to his rivals when he set the second-fastest time during the Spanish MotoGP test at the Jerez Circuit on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Frenchman clocked one minute 37.911 seconds, just 0.118 of a second behind Spaniard Maverick Vinales (1:37.793) of Monster Energy Yamaha.
Fellow Spaniard and six-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda Team was third quickest (1:38.021) while Fabio’s teammate, Franco Morbidelli (1:38.646) was 14th.
“The Jerez (circuit) is completely different from the ones in Sepang and Qatar. I didn’t expect to improve that much in the afternoon because the pace was quite consistent,” Quartararo said in a statement issued by the team.
The Spanish GP will resume with the free practice session today, followed by the qualifying session tomorrow and the race proper on Sunday.
