The Belait District Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) Library held an adult-centred programme titled ‘Popia Recipes, Five Flavours and Five Tastes’ (Resepi Popia 5 Rencah 5 Rasa) at the library at Jalan Padang, Kuala Belait yesterday.

It was held as part of a continuous efforts to help attract members of the public to visit their local library for various activities, especially for adults, throughout the month of November.

The activity was also held to attract visitors to check out the services and facilities at the library, as well as encourage the borrowing of books, specifically the cookbooks collection and recipes.

Participants, numbering around 20, learnt more about the proper steps and techniques of making popia, as well as the variety of popia that can be made using simple techniques resulting in various scrumptious popia flavours. Among those participating were Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh, Kuala Belait students.

They were welcomed by Mahani binti Jais, one of the library staff and the event’s head organiser.

Library officials hoped that the activities will help create a culture of knowledge-sharing and harmony in the library.

More activities will be held including demonstration on ambuyat-making and weaving decorative pillow, on November 16 and 21.
