Police seize contraband cigarettes, question two foreigners

POLICE seized three cartons and 17 packs of contraband cigarettes belonging to two foreign workers during checks conducted on 58 foreigners during a joint operation at Kampong Rataie and Kampong Menengah in Temburong District on Saturday night.

Starting at 10pm, the operation was aimed at combatting crimes and ensuring that foreign workers comply with the country’s laws and regulations.

The operation, led by Temburong Police District Traffic and Criminal Investigation Officer ASP Pengiran Azlan Shah bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad, involved 54 officers and personnel from Temburong Police District, the Immigration and National Registration Department, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Internal Security Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, Religious Enforcement Division and the Halal Food Control Division.

The two foreign workers and seized contraband are being investigated by the Royal Customs and Excise Department under Section 146 (1) (d) of the Excise Order 2006.
