Police nab man behind car and house break-ins, theft

THE Berakas Police Station arrested a local man suspected of being involved in a string of car and house break-ins and theft in the Brunei-Muara District, according to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

The accused, Mohammad Erwan Halifollah bin Haji Sairol, 34, was brought to the Bandar Magistrate’s Court on Saturday and faced eight charges of theft and vandalism under Sections 379, 380, 426 and 427 of the Penal Code, Chapter 22.

The court granted the prosecution’s application for the defendant to be remanded until February 7 to allow the police to conduct further investigations.

The police said that with the defendant’s arrest, they have uncovered eight cases of car break-ins and are pursuing more information on his alleged involvement in other cases.
