Police investigates death of soldier who jumped off army camp building

BATU PAHAT (BERNAMA) – A Malaysian Armed Forces personnel died while being treated in hospital after he was alleged to have jumped from the third floor of a building in an army camp on August 29.

Batu Pahat District Police Chief Superintendent Muhammad Izzudin Runggai said that the incident occurred at the camp’s hostel building, where the victim sustained severe head injuries.

He said police was informed that the victim had died at the Intensive Care Unit of the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital, at 2.30pm on Sunday.

“The post mortem will be carried out today to find out the cause of his death.

“Investigation is ongoing to identify the cause as well as to verify his family’s statement that the deceased may have been bullied and abused in the camp prior to the incident,” he said in a statement.
