Police foil smuggling attempt

Police personnel of Bangar Police Station, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) detained a local man, 29, at Kampong Semamang, Jalan Batang Duri in Temburong District for allegedly smuggling in contraband via a mouse trail.

The incident occurred at 1.35pm on Monday where police personnel detected the suspect’s vehicle during a surveillance of the area.

Police personnel conducted a check and found 12 bottles of alcohol and cigarettes as well as a plastic package containing items believed to be drug paraphernalia. The Royal Customs and Excise Department and the Narcotics Control Bureau were alerted to probe the case.

The suspect was brought to the Games Village Quarantine Centre to serve a two-week isolation before further investigation commences.
