Royal Brunei Police Force Company ‘C’ Reserve Unit officers foiled two attempts of smuggling cigarettes into the country in Kampong Junjongan Limau Manis on Thursday, the unit’s assistant commanding officer ASP Azhan bin Anuar said.

Police personnel found 10 cartons of cigarettes in a tekiding (woven basket) at around 1.15pm while another 15 cartons of cigarettes were found in a tekiding at around 2.30pm at the same location, he said.

The smuggled goods are believed to have been abandoned by the smugglers.

The items were brought to the Limau Manis Police Station. The case was transferred to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.
