Police foil cigarette smuggling attempt

A FOREIGN man was detained by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) for trying to smuggle cigarettes into the country. He was arrested during a patrol in the jungles of mouse trail in Kuala Lurah, Lumapas.

The smuggling attempt was foiled as a result of intelligence and monitoring work carried out by personnel of the RBPF’s Reserve Company ‘C’ at the area of the mouse trail in Simpang 1580, Kuala Lurah.

Ak Mohd Azri bin Ak Jeman, 33, is a Malaysian national.

Evidence and 270 cartons of cigarettes were seized during the arrest and brought back to the Limau Manis Police Station for further investigations, with the case being transferred to the Royal Customs and Excise Department.
