Sari Mengerna Team, comprising Haji Muhammad Sawaz bin Haji Awang Ali and Mohammad Fathullah binti Haji Rashid, emerged as the champion of Pantaran Sastera Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) finals yesterday with the poetry Cinta di Laut Biru by Haji Masri bin Haji Idris.
The competition was held at the festive performance stage opposite the Royal Regalia Museum building in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 76th birthday celebration.
Ala Dinamika, comprising Awangku Muhammad Nur Safiuddin bin Pengiran Haji Harun, Nurhusna Rasyiqah binti Johari and Mohamad Fathullah bin Haji Rashid came in second place with their performance of Tanah Air by Basirah HB.
In third place was Abdullah Wafi bin Haji Rusli with his performance of Pemuda by Akeem HGM.
Sari Samaun comprising Zulfikri bin Talip and Muhammad Nur Sallehuddin bin Haji Osman, was placed fourth with the performance Tepuk Dada Tanya Selera by Atin Aswana.
Pengiran Mohammad Qawiem bin Pengiran Haji Kamaruddin, Pengiran Haji Kamaruddin bin Pengiran Haji Othman and Nur Qawiatussyifaa binti Abdullah Mohammad Qawiem from Akustik Syifaa took the fifth spot with their performance Kampung Ayer D’Lagenda by Kamar D51.
Meanwhile, Abdul Hanif Iqbal bin Abdul Manap came in sixth with his performance Rangkaian Jiwa by Kouri.
Acting Director of DBP Suip bin Haji Abdul Wahab, who was the guest of honour, presented the prizes.
The combination of literary works, singing and music served to appreciate the works of local writers published by the bureau.
