Plan to extend bus operating hours for main routes: JPD

THE Land Transport Department (JPD) would like to refer to the letter ‘Plan to run longer night bus services?’ by For a Modern Public Transport System published in the Opinion page of the Borneo Bulletin on December 26.

JPD would like to thank the writer for the comments regarding longer operating hours at night for bus services.

The department is informing the writer and public that bus services are operated by six companies running daily from 6am to 8pm.

Under the Public Bus Improvement Project being conducted by the JPD, one of the deliverables will be the extension of bus operating hours for main bus routes to cater to passengers who need such services.

To complement the currently existing gap in services, the public can use taxis or Dart.

Taxi operator telephone numbers can be obtained from Darussalam line 123 or JPD website at http://www.mtic.gov.bn/ltd (Go to the Quick Links for the List of Licensed Taxi Drivers Brunei Darussalam).

Meanwhile the Dart mobile apps can be downloaded both for Android and iOS.

We appreciate the writer’s comments and wish to assure that this matter is of high priority to improve the quality of public transportation for all.

For any further queries or clarifications on the public transport system as well as matters pertaining to the JPD, members of the public can contact the Public Relations Unit, the Land Transport Department during working hours at telephone numbers 2620846, 2451979, 2451980 ext 107 or Mobile App TD123 at 8333123.
