Photography contest winners to receive prizes on November 30

The winners of the photography competition to mark the 50th anniversary of the Brunei Photographic Society were selected at the Community Hall in Kampong Luagan Dudok, Tutong last Sunday.

Present were President of the Brunei Photographic Society Haji Hamidun bin Haji Mohd Noor and contributor for the prize winners for Category ‘B’ Joseph Wong Siew Hang from Rose Photo Studio as well as executive committee members of the Brunei Photographic Society.

Judges comprised Interhouse Company representative Steven Goh Choon Fai who contributed prizes for Category ‘A’ winners; Haji Harnadi bin Haji Buntar and Ong Heng Seng.

The contest was divided into two categories. Category ‘A’ was open to the public, citizens and permanent residents with the theme ‘My Brunei Darussalam 2019’.

Category ‘B’ was specific to members of the organisation (Brunei Photographic Society) with the theme ‘Masterpiece’.

The theme showed how the members themselves worked creatively without neglecting the rules and composition in photography.

The contest which was open for over two months received an encouraging response. After initial filtering, 40 pictures for Category ‘A’ and 19 pieces for Category ‘B’ were judged.

The contest’s results and subsequent prize presentation will be held on November 30 at 1.30pm at PM Sharifuddin Theatre, National Archives in Jalan Dewan Majlis.

For Category ‘A’, the winners will receive a Canon from Interhouse Company.

The first place winner will receive a Canon EOS m3 (double kit), the second place winner a Canon EOS 750D and the third place winner a Canon EOS 700d. Fourth and fifth place winners will receive a Canon printer.

For Category ‘B’, first, second and third place winners will receive prizes in the form of photography equipment worth USD2,400, while fourth and fifth place winners will receive prizes from the organisation itself.
