Philippine Embassy hosts bowling tournament

The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam organised the 2020 Diplomatic Corps Friendship Bowling Tournament at the Golden Bowling Company at The Airport Mall yesterday.

It began with welcoming remarks by Ambassador of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam Christopher B Montero and brief remarks by Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel bin Rashed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.

Among the highlights of the event was a ceremonial throw by the heads of mission and team leaders for each lane before the commencement of the games.

The team which comprised Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Sujatmiko, Khairul Azam Bani, Daniel R Walker, Lim Poh Kwee and Abdullah Kosor emerged winners in the team category after they accumulated 1,110 pinfalls.

Second place went to the quintet of Scott Woodard, Mohammed Al-Maskari, Hsun Hlaing Aye, Deng Zilong and Ahmad Afif bin Haji Matassim who recorded 1,061 pinfalls.

The team which comprised Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Nur Maselelana Rahimah binti Pengiran Ibrahim, Cristana Gloria, Laxami Kant Chopra and Ruel Baretto snatched third place with 1,049 points.

Meanwhile in the men’s individual category, Roslan bin Haji Patra emerged the winner after collecting 290 pinfalls while Raiya Al-Maskari clinched the women’s individual title with 241 pinfalls.

Omar bin Haji Abdul Hamid finished as runners-up in the men’s category with 287 pinfalls followed by Ruel Baretto in third place with 278 points. In the women’s category, second place went to Faridah Ali with 181 points while Hajah Haslina binti Haji Ali Akhbar came in third with 178 points.
