PESEBAR launches Brunei Sultanate book

The Brunei History Association (PESEBAR) launched a book Kesultanan Brunei Darussalam (Brunei Darussalam Sultanate) at the Brunei History Centre (PSB) in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was present.

Principal of PSB Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Professor (Dr) Haji Awang Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri bin Begawan Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Umar was also present.

Acting President of PESEBAR Dr Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong said the book consist of 17 articles contributed by 15 local writers and two from overseas writers.

The articles discussed on several aspects related with history, economy, education and literature about Brunei Darussalam.

He added that the main objective of the publication is to appreciate the historical contributions, research and writings made by the Principal of PSB.

“The initial objective to set up the PSB mainly was to do research, preserve, documentation and sustaining the history and genealogy of the Sultans and other significant individuals of the country. This is the success made by Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Professor (Dr) Haji Awang Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri and we can witness that in the development of PSB as what it is today.” The event proceeded with the launching of the book by the minister.
