Permanent secretary leads Brunei delegation at trade policy review in Geneva

The World Trade Organization (WTO) held Brunei Darussalam’s Fourth Trade Policy Review (4th TPR) from November 27 to yesterday in Geneva, Switzerland, under the chairmanship of Ambassador of Nigeria and Chair of the Trade Policy Review Board Adamu Mohammed Abdulhamid.

Permanent Secretary (Economy, Trade and Industry) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Dr Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin led the Brunei delegation.

Brunei’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, WTO and other international organisations in Geneva, Switzerland Dayangku Mazlizah binti Pengiran Haji Mahalee also participated, along with representatives from other WTO members.

The session featured South Africa’s Ambassador to the WTO Mzukisi Qobo as a discussant.

Trade Policy Reviews are mandated by the WTO to assess member countries’ trade and related policies and monitor developments affecting the global trading system.

The process includes reports by the WTO Secretariat and the government of the country under review. – Fadley Faisal
