THE festive atmosphere that emanated from the multi-purpose hall of Sayyidina Ali Secondary School (SMSA) was electrifying and contagious, as students, teachers, parents and guardians came together to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri recently.
The gathering of over 930 students, teachers as well as parents and guardians, started with an opening remark by the school’s Principal Steven Shim Sheau Huei.
He conveyed his Raya greetings to the attendees as well as appreciation to the efforts in holding the event.
He said they enjoyed the performances by the students and members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in celebration of Hari Raya at the school.
Among the activities held were festive song and dance performances led by students of the school from various clubs and groups, as well as by the school’s PTA members.
The school’s prefects and peer guidance counsellors (PRR) also held a series of Hari Raya quizzes for the students.
The activities were accompanied by food and drinks contributed by the students, teachers, parents and guardians. The attendees were also able to commemorate and remember the occasion with a specially made Raya photo booth at the back of the hall and decorated by the art teachers and students.
Following the performances, the school’s PTA led by its Chairman Nordin bin Haji Zainal handed over a specially made study desk to the school, which was received on behalf by the principal, to help ensure the students with special needs from the Sakura Classroom can make full use of it in their studies.
