It was a uniquely heart-racing experience to be able to test drive 26 Porsche sports cars from across the model range, with some specially brought in from Germany at the Porsche World Roadshow (PWRS) recently held in Singapore.
The Weekend Bulletin was invited to attend the event marking Porsche’s 75th anniversary celebrations from May 19 to 23.
Porsche vehicles available for the fun test drive event ranged from the marque first all-electric sports car Taycan, to the timeless and iconic 911.
The agile mid-engine 718 family also made an appearance, alongside Porsche’s sport range of four-door models: the Panamera luxury sport sedan, as well as the Macan and Cayenne SUVs.
Specially-prepared driving activities were planned to showcase the sporting abilities across all models.
The 911 GT3 and 718 Cayman GT4 RS were also present to showcase their sharpened GT and RS (Renn Sport, or racing sport) characteristics.

Held at the Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) massive open areas, the PWRS is a professional driving event organised by Porsche AG, and has been held in over 45 countries around the world to date.
Expert driving instructors utilised a fleet of Porsche sports cars specially brought in from Germany, curating a rare opportunity to experience the famed driving prowess of Porsche sports cars in a safe and controlled environment.
Singapore and foreign media, as well as corporate clients, put the Porsche models to the test in four special driving segments namely off road, handling, braking, slalom and city drive.
Expert Porsche-certified driving instructors helped hone participants’ driving skills.
The fun part of the overall experience was the handling segment where participants took to a mini track to test out the Porsche race cars for speed and manoeuvring.
The speed and cornering got the heart pumping, and participants got to change around seven different cars after two laps.
The braking segment came with the activation of Launch Control in Sport Plus mode in the 911 Turbo S to reach 60 miles per hour within 2.6 seconds. The driver then needs to stop the car immediately to test out the carbon ceramic brakes.
The event was an adrenaline rush that felt like a giant drop ride at a theme park.
The highlight of the roadshow was the launch of the all-new 992-generation 911 GT3 RS. Purpose-built for performance, the 911 GT3 RS means performance orientation without any compromises.
With its race-car derived drag reduction system (DRS), single cooler concept and lightweight concept, the all-new 911 GT3 RS is closer to a GT race car than ever before.
The high-revving, naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine produces 386kW (525 PS) and 470Nm at 9,000rpm, and with highly-adjustable suspension, traction control and differential settings, it can achieve a Nürburgring Nordschleife time 10.6 seconds quicker than its predecessor.
The super sport car can go from zero to 100 kilometres per hour (km/h) in just 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 296km/hr.
Porsche Singapore General Manager Andre Brand said, “Porsche has been busy in the first half of the year to adapt and innovate and deliver more cars than ever globally in the first quarter of 2023.
“Porsche cars are infused with sport car DNA and motorsport heritage. The new 911 GT3 RS launched today with the PWRS aims to deliver a brand experience on a different level.”
