HUNDREDS turned up in the capital on Wednesday night to watch the Pentarama performance organised by the Information Department in celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 73rd birthday.
Held at the parking lot across the Royal Regalia Museum, the event was held to spread positive messages on education, nationalism and religion among the community.
Head of Health Promotion Centre, Ministry of Health, Dr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Md Kassim was the guest of honour.
Also present were Acting Director of the Information Department Haji Shahrul Jefri bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim and Acting Deputy Director of the Information Department Sastra Sarini binti Haji Julaini.
The festive night began with the traditional Zapin Tari Tualang Tiga dance, followed by a group medley performance of Pentarama theme songs and Dirgahayu by local artistes including Ezah Hashim, Juan Madial, Nasir HAR and popular comedians Hajah Kasumawati and Haji Firdaus.
The crowd was also entertained with comedy sketches and fun quizzes as well as a special drama entitled Mendambakan Maghfirah-Mu highlighting dementia as well as drug abuse and the role of neighbours in solving problems together.
Pentarama will make its way across the remaining districts in the coming days, with the Belait District hosting the event tomorrow (July 20), Tutong District on July 21 and the Temburong District on July 27. Entry is free and members of the public are welcome to watch the performances.
