Pekan Bangar of Temburong District is getting infrastructure upgrades like roads, sewage system, water pipes, drainage and landscaping in its bid to become a tourist attraction.
The project was awarded to Pro-Builder Sdn Bhd with a price tag of BND7,916,818.60 yesterday.
The scope of the project includes the upgrading of the Temburong River waterfront, pedestrian walkway and construction of covered walkway.
The project will take six months to complete. It is aimed at enhancing economic growth and generate business and employment opportunities in Temburong District.
Beside the Pekan Bangar project, five projects were also awarded to local companies during a ceremony at the Public Works Department headquarters.
The six projects come with a cost of BND15,164,240.60.
Guest of honour Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar witnessed the signing ceremony as well as the appointment of consultants for the projects.
Four of the six projects signed are projects in the Belait District under the 11th National Development plan (RKN).
Astal Engineering Sdn Bhd was awarded the project of upgrading the sewage system in the municipal area of Kuala Belait and Seria. The BND4,269,756 project will take 30 months to complete. The project’s objectives are to provide positive effect to the public, reduce maintenance cost in Kuala Belait and Seria areas and reduce clogging.
The BND1,222,220 contract of replacing new pipe for raw water from Badas Water Pump to Seria Water Treatment Plant went to Impian Reka Bina Sdn Bhd. The project will take 24 months to complete and among the objectives is to stabilise water supply.
Syarikat Noor Laila Jaya (Enterprise) (B) Sdn Bhd signed the contract to replace the old pipes. The project will take 24 months to complete with a price tag of BND1,168,271.
The project is to supply, install and connect new water pipe to Merangking’s tanks. This will supply clean water to Kampong Merangking to support agriculture and enable development along the roads heading to Ulu Belait.
The project of Rasau road restoration in Belait, under the 11th National Development Plan, was awarded to Kayamas Maju Sdn Bhd. The BND500,000 project will take 24 months to complete. The last project is dredging at Sungai Rampayoh which was awarded to JYC Sdn Bhd. The 24-month project will cost BND871,750. The project allows for a better flow of water in the river to help reduce flooding in Kampong Rampayoh, Belait.
Following the contract signing, the Minister of Development also handed over contract documents and letter of appointment for consultant to Othman & Associates Consulting Engineers for Agis Agis Water Treatment Plant upgrading project in the Belait District and Konsultan MWH for the project to build a new Badas Raw Water Pump Station and install new raw water pipe from Badas to Sungai Liang Industrial Park (SPARK) area.
Deputy Minister of Development Dato Seri Paduka Ar Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the Ministry of Development Ir Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Legal) at the Ministry of Development Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd Yaakub, Acting Director General of Public Works Department Ir Alice Lim Sui Kau and other officials were also present.
