A pedestrian died after he was allegedly knocked down by a vehicle in the Mentiri National Housing Scheme on Thursday.

Muara Police Station personnel who responded to an emergency call at 6.35pm, found the 52-year-old local man lying unconscious on the road after the accident, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said.

The vehicle’s driver and passenger did not sustain any injuries. Paramedics at the scene confirmed the man had died at the scene of the accident.

The body was transported to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The RBPF requested road users to always stay focussed on the road and its surrounding and pedestrians to be careful and alert when crossing the road, especially in areas that are busy and have poor visibility.
