Some 269 male recruits of the 165th Intake took part at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Passing Out Parade upon completion of the basic military training for 31 weeks. The parade took place at the Training Institute RBAF (TI RBAF) in Penanjong Garrison yesterday.
Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office Mohamed Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohamed Yunos was the guest of honour.
In his welcoming address, the guest of honour underlined that the military career is a highly regarded and respected profession that requires a great deal of discipline, commitment and sacrifice to ensure the security and sovereignty of the nation.
“In addition to complementing these professional knowledge and skills, to build a strong military figure, it is of utmost importance for all recruits to engage in religious knowledge such as Aqidah, Fardhu Ain, Ibadah and morals,” he said.
The guest of honour then congratulated all the recruits and said their achievement is a start to more success in the future and advised them to prepare themselves with the attitude and character of the army.
At the event, the guest of honour inspected the parade led by Lt Zulfadli Hayat bin Shamsul Hayat and later presented awards to instructors and recruits who performed exceptionally throughout the training.
15445 Sergeant (U) Hamdy bin Tujoh was awarded the Best Platoon Sergeant, 19317 Corporal (U) Abdul Qawi bin Duraim, Best Male Instructor, 53424 Recruit (L) Muhammad Khairul Safwan bin Abdul Karim, Best Overall Recruit, 53490 Recruit (U) Awangku Arsyad Muazzam bin Pengiran Ahmad, Best in Small Arms, 53387 Recruit Muhammad Afifi bin Ramli, Best in Physical Training, and 53446 Recruit (L) Md Nur Arif bin Haji Zabidi, Best Military Skills.
Also present were Commander of the RBAF Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, service commanders, directors, deputy service commanders, commandants, senior officers, officers, personnel of the RBAF as well as the families and friends of the recruits.
