Partial scholarships up for grabs

Most universities offer generous partial scholarships and students who are self funded are encouraged to ask about these scholarships, Findlay Managing Director Sunita Martin said during the Findlay International Study Fair at The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

“Scholarships are often available not just at the admission stage but further along during their studies as well. For example, high performing students at INTO pathway colleges may also be eligible for a range of very generous progression scholarships when they move to INTO’s universities in the United Kingdom (UK) and United States (US),” said the managing director.

The latest instalment of Findlay education services agency’s International Study Fair is its largest to date, featuring 27 representatives from institutions spanning the UK, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and the US to discuss opportunities for students considering overseas education in 2023 to 2025.

These featured institutions range from universities for direct-entry students, to colleges and pathway providers for students looking at alternative routes to enter university.

For the first time, the fair featured representatives for universities and colleges in the US and another representative for boarding schools in the UK.

Throughout the fair, Findlay consultants also provided information on institutions that were unable to attend.

Among the top 250 world-ranked universities participating in the fair included University of Birmingham, University of Dundee, University of Exeter, University of Liverpool, Newcastle University and Queen’s University Belfast in the UK, and University of Otago in New Zealand.

It was highlighted that the top universities are targetted by those aiming for government  scholarships.

Officers from the Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council and Department of Scholarship Management at the Ministry of Education, CfBT, BIBD and Baiduri Bank were also present at the fair.

Several free presentations on relevant topics which included studying in the US and writing personal statements were also conducted during the day.
