Parents’ role in students’ success stressed

The importance of the support of parents and guardians in their children’s growth was stressed during a talk hosted by Sayyidina Ali Secondary School (SMSA) Parents and Teachers’ Association (PTA) at the school yesterday.

The talk, ‘Ibubapa Cemerlang Anak Gemilang was attended by 50 parents and guardians with children currently studying in Year 8 and Year 11. Principal Steven Shim Sheau Hui, PTA of SMSA chairman Nordin bin Haji Zainal, deputy principals, teachers, and school staff were present.

“The school and its PTA believes in the importance of parents and guardians helping to further develop the students’ studies and development, and through this platform we are not only able to meet and interact face to face, but also share some of the challenges faced by students and how to overcome them as parents and guardians.” said Shim.

A variety of activities and sharing session between the parents and guardians were also held to exchange experiences.

Parents and guardians, as well as invited speaker President of Peka Consultant Brunei Diny bin Haji Karim received certificates of participation.
