The Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday issued a recall on four batches of Paracetamol Suspension (50mg/ml) following a viral message circulating on social media regarding the Paracetamol Suspension medication that is being quarantined.
The four batches are RP1222009 with the expiration date December 11, 2023, RP1222010 with the expiration date of December 12, 2023, RP1222011 with the expiration date of December 12, 2023 and RP0123028 with the expiration date January 30, 2024.
According to the MoH, the recall from distribution was in line with the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Department of Pharmaceutical Services following in depth monitoring that found the quality of the products may have been compromised.
The recall only involved the four batches listed and do not involve other batches supplied through the Department of Pharmaceutical Services.
The department is investigating the products with the cooperation of Department of Scientific Services as well as the supplier.
Members of the public in possession of the affected Paracetamol Suspension are advised not to use the medicine and to return them to the pharmacy at hospitals or nearby health centres.
So far, there have not been any reports on harmful effects among patients after taking the medicine.
However, members of the public can seek doctors’ advice if any patient develops adverse effects after taking the medicine.
The MoH pays serious attention to the quality of medicinal products supplied and ensures that the medicines are safe and effective.
The ministry also advised the public not to panic when receiving any viral information and they can log on to the ministry’s website at www.moh.gov.bn for updates.
