PANAGA Team One of Panaga Lawn Bowl Club (PLBC) defended their title in the WBC-PLBC Open Pairs Trophy 2019 after defeating E/S of Wisdom Bowls Club (WBC) at the Panaga Lawn Bowls Green in Panaga Club, Seria last Sunday.
Panaga Team One comprising Damian Brady and Tobias bin Tahal beat WBC’s Ehsan Iskandar Ahmad and Sufri Mohin in the final match 12-4.
Haji Abdul Ghafar and Muhd Nuh Jaafar from WBC Green King, as well as Ally McDonald and Craig Forbes from Panaga Team Five, were joint third.
Twelve teams, including two from Royal Brunei Bowls Club (RBBC), registered in the championship and were split into two groups.
PLBC were represented by five teams, consisting players from Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. WBC fielded five teams comprising senior players, coaches and youth.
In the Plate Section, WBC’s The Boss comprising Amalia binti Matali and Ampuan Hajah Lily Maryani binti Ampuan Haji Salleh edged RBBC pair Muhd Nazid Nudin and Rudy Aminurzaman 7-5; while Haji Amli Haji Ghafar and Norafizah Matossen of WBC ‘A’, and Panaga Team Four pair Paul Deelan and Paul Creaton were joint third.
Principal of Panaga School Cindy Tahal presented the prizes.
The annual sporting event sought to strengthen ties among all competing lawn bowlers and help further promote lawn bowling.
