RPN Kampong Panaga neighbourhood watch and residents banded together to make full use of the under-used lagoon for the official opening of the Panaga Lagoon Gerai Aneka on February 26.
Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad was welcomed to the venue by Acting Village Head of RPN Kampong Panaga Ariffin bin Abdullah.
Led by the village-created Lagoon Committee comprising members from the village’s neighbourhood watch and residents, the lagoon is an initiative to enliven the area.
The under-utilised lagoon was transformed into an area where residents can set up stalls to sell local and hand-made products, while providing a locale for residents to relax and stroll around.
The acting district officer who officiated the opening of the lagoon, also visited the stalls.
The acting village head also presented a token of appreciation to the acting district officer.
