Palestine president urges the world to reevaluate Israel relationships

RIYADH (Bernama-SPA) – President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine emphasised that the crimes of the Israeli occupation forces necessitate that all of us work to achieve the implementation of Security Council resolution no. 2735, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
 
He called upon the Arab and Islamic countries to demand that the Security Council and the General Assembly suspend Israel’s membership in the United Nations unless it complies with international law and its documented obligations and ceases its crimes against the Palestinian people.
 
In his address to the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh, the Palestinian president urged the world’s nations to reevaluate their relationship with the occupying power and refrain from normalising it.

This call was made in response to Israel’s continual non-compliance with international law. He affirmed that the General Assembly resolution urges the states to impose sanctions on Israel.
 
President Abbas also urged the leaders attending the summit to safeguard Jerusalem and the resilience of its inhabitants, prevent aggression towards Al-Aqsa Mosque and ensure the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian sanctities in the Holy City.

 

He stressed the need to support the international coalition to embody the State of Palestine, obtain its full membership in the United Nations, implement the Arab Peace Initiative, and continue to mobilise international support to enable the State of Palestine to carry out its tasks in strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, and protecting its national unity.

President Abbas called for pressuring the occupation government to release the funds, provide a financial safety net, protect and enhance the work of UNRWA and enable it to continue its tasks in Palestine.

The Palestinian president stressed that work is underway to establish the necessary mechanisms, committees and agencies for the Palestinian government to manage the Gaza Strip under the jurisdiction of the State of Palestine and the Palestine Liberation Organisation.

He thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and HRH the Crown Prince for their efforts to embody the State of Palestine as a basis for achieving stability and peace and for the Kingdom hosting this summit.

He also thanked the leaders for their supportive positions towards the Palestinian people.
