Pakistan’s cement exports surge by 40pc

XINHUA – Pakistan’s cement exports increased by 40.46 per cent in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year starting from July 2023 to June 2024, compared to the same period of the last fiscal year, officials from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Saturday.

According to PBS officials, the country’s cement exports were recorded at USD236.797 million in May-July of the current fiscal year, as against USD168.583 million during the same months of fiscal year 2022-23.

In terms of quantity, cement exports also surged by 66.78 per cent, going up from 3,707,427 metric tonnes to 6,183,117 metric tonnes. The PBS said that on a year-on-year basis, cement exports during May 2024 increased by 78.23 per cent to USD32.251 million compared to exports of USD18.095 million in May 2023.

Meanwhile, on a month-on-month basis, cement exports witnessed an increase of 28.62 per cent in May 2024 when compared to the exports of USD25.074 million in April 2024.
