The Pakistan High Commission in Brunei Darussalam commemorated the Defence and Martyrs Day of Pakistan at its chancery in Kampong Lambak, Berakas yesterday. Pakistani High Commissioner Major General (Rtd) Farhat Abbas Sani welcomed the guests who included, officials of the Pakistan High Commission, their families and the Pakistani community from all districts.
Deputy Head of Mission Ghulam Haider conveyed a message from Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza stating, “Today is a day to honour the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our nation’s freedom and sovereignty.”
Every year, Pakistan commemorates the day of remembrance on September 6, 1965.
It was a day when Pakistan’s armed forces, with national support, defeated the enemy. – Adib Noor
