THE Pakistan High Commission in Brunei Darussalam donated books to the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) yesterday.
Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam Ahmed Ali Sirohey handed over the books to Ra’es of KUPU SB Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar and established a Book Corner at KUPU SB’s Library, stated a press release.
The acting high commissioner said books serve as a ladder to knowledge and to the development of a peaceful and progressive society.
The collection of books donated to KUPU SB covers a range of subjects and provides a religious point of view on modern day social and economic issues.
He reminded the audience that knowledge is inheritance of believers. “Muslims were at the forefront of discovery and research. We can regain it by making books our friends,” he said.
Progress on Memorandums of Understanding between KUPU SB and Sindh University of Pakistan and Islamic University Bahawalpur was also discussed.
The Ra’es of KUPU SB expressed gratitude to the Pakistan High Commission for the donation and presented a token of appreciation to the acting high commissioner.
