UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) launched its ‘Pahlawan IV’ energy-efficient vehicle at its main lobby yesterday.
The Pahlawan IV launch was officiated by Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB Dr Hajah Noor Maya binti Haji Mohd Salleh.
“Today’s event adds another exciting adventure to this university through the students’ innovative project,” she said in her welcoming remarks.
“The university has been encouraging students to participate in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia event since 2015. Again we are proud to send another team to compete in Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2019, the fifth team to represent UTB at an international event.”
Dr Hajah Noor Maya added that the competition aims to provide the participating students the chance to apply their practical skills in a real-world environment and allow them to gain experience working as part of a team in a challenging and demanding situation.
“All these will bring these students to another step towards professional and successful careers ahead. This experiential learning is definitely supporting Brunei Vision 2035’s goal of realising a knowłedgeable and highly skilled nation,” said the acting vice-chancellor.
The UTB Eco-Drive team will be representing UTB and Brunei Darussalam in the upcoming Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2019 at Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur.
The competition, which challenges students worldwide to design and build energy-efficient cars, is divided into two categories: Urban Concept and Prototype Concept.
This year the UTB team will compete in the Prototype Concept category, using electric batteries for their car.
