PACK ‘N’ Go was our school’s entrepreneurial project to take part in the annual BigStart Competition which was jointly organised by the Department of Co-Curriculum Education, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and Radio Television Brunei to promote the entrepreneurship spirit among students. Each team was given a capital of BND200 to start their business.
A monthly report was made on the business’ progress. Pack ‘N’ Go was in the form of ready, homemade pre-packed meal sets. The prime objective was to provide convenience for customers who did not have time to prepare meals at home. Pack ‘N’ Go’s meal set consisted of one main course, a light snack, a packet drink and fruit slices. The menu changed every two weeks.
The team packed the meals early in the morning in school. During recess time, the customers collected their pre-orders, and the extras were sold on the spot as well. Pack ‘N’ Go also participated in events such as the KBKu Ceria. Hardwork paid off when the team won the first runner-up award.
Our Little Bean Bean project for primary pupils was a big success in the Celik Biz Competition which was organised by Department of Co-Curriculum Education and BIBD. This Competition took place from August to November 2018.
The Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait team (Little Bean Bean) consisted of four students from Year 4, supervised by Teachers Dayangku Nuruamal Nabilah binti Pengiran Marali and Wee Mui Yaw. The competition required the students to present their business proposal (Theme: Healthy Food – Soy Bean Milk) to the judges. Little Bean Bean made into the top five finalists and eventually won the championship. Twenty per cent of the overall profit was donated to the Orphans Fund and Gempa Bumi Palu-Sulawesi.
