As of October 17, a total of 342,509 individuals or 75.5 per cent of the total population had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 231,732 individuals (51.1 per cent) have completed the vaccine schedule.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar revealed this during a press conference yesterday, adding that 1,676 individuals received the COVID-19 vaccine on October 17 alone.

The Ministry of Health has started giving out booster shots (third dose) to certain groups including frontliners.

“Currently, for anyone who has received the Sinopharm vaccine, a booster shot will be administered three months after the second dose. For other vaccines such as AstraZeneca and Moderna, it is six months after,” the minister said.

He added that those who have been administered two doses of the Sinopharm vaccine after more than three months will receive text messages stating the appointment date for the booster shot.

Meanwhile, 121 residents of Mukim Lamunin and its surroundings were vaccinated through the Mobile COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic services at the Lamunin Health Centre yesterday. Of the total, 108 are aged below 60, while 13 are above 60 years.
