Over 20 foreign workers were detained during a number of immigration raids carried out in the Sultanate recently.
Several rented houses in Mukim Bangar were targetted in a latest raid by Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) enforcement officers recently.
Seven foreign workers in Pekan Bangar were nabbed for violations while in another raid in Kampong Seri Tanjong Belayang, Mukim Bangar, five foreign workers were detained, one a runaway worker.
Both cases were brought to the Enforcement Division for further investigations.
The INRD also reminded the public that by harbouring immigration offenders, they face a fine of BND3,000 for every immigration offence.
Meanwhile, for foreign workers who violate the immigration rules, their work passes will be cancelled, them repatriated and blacklisted.



In another operation, a bakery shop in Mukim Berakas was targetted.
A foreign worker was found working under a social pass.
Enforcement officers also found a foreign worker with the same violation in another operation in Tamu Kianggeh.
The offenders can now face an imprisonment of no more than six months or fine not exceeding BND2,000, or both.
Any employer employing immigration offenders can face a fine of BND3,000 for each offender.
Meanwhile, during an operation in Tungku Gadong, the officers detained two foreign workers found offering services.
Meanwhile, during a raid at a retail shop in Kampong Jangsak, a foreign female was found to have been in a job not stated in the work pass.
Another two female foreign workers were detained at a retail shop in Kampong Sengkurong for the same violation.
During an operation in Kampong Kiulap, three female workers were detained for failing to produce valid travel documents.
A raid in Jalan Kebangsaan Lama revealed two foreign workers working under social passes.
