Over 1,000 individuals comprising the public and staff of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) participated in the virtual weekly Munajat organised by the ministry on Saturday night, the second week at the turn of the year.
The ceremony was held to seek forgiveness from Allah the Almighty through the recitation of prayers including the recitations of Surah Yaasiin, Istighfar, Zikir and Selawat praising Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), while also praying for safety from calamities and diseases, especially COVID-19.
Assistant Mufti (Ifta) at the State Mufti’s Office Dr Haji Dennie bin Haji Abdullah in his religious talk entitled ‘Superiority of Al-Kursi’, said Ayatul Kursi is the greatest Al-Quran verse, with seven matters covering names and basic characters of Allah the Almighty.
For those who recite Ayatul Kursi at the end of every prayer, nothing but death will prevent him from entering heaven, said Dr Haji Dennie.
He called on the Ummah to recite Ayatul Kursi especially after prayers, before sleeping, and as a daily Zikir in the morning and afternoon as well as before leaving the house.
Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong led the recitations of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah.
The ceremony also saw the recitation of Surah Yaasiin led by Education Officer at the Centre for Al-Quran Studies and Dissemination Mohamad Hashim bin Haji Abdullah, Doa Munajat by Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, and Selawat Ibrahimiyyah led by Asy-Syahadah Muslim Muallaf Youth at the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud were also present.
