A total of 148 pints of blood were collected in two blood donation campaigns across the country.

On Sunday, 80 bled for a good cause as part of the blood donation campaign organised by the Rotary Club of Belait (RCB) in collaboration with the Blood Bank Unit at the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait.

Held at the hospital’s Learning and Development Centre, the campaign saw more than 102 registered of which 80 were eligible to donate.

Donors also received souvenir bags as tokens of appreciation.

RCB President Henrietta Hiew said the campaign exceeded the club’s expectation.

“We hope the campaign will inspire others to help bolster blood supplies, especially in the Belait District,” she said.

She said the club aims to conduct similar campaigns as well as its annual charitable activities.

Meanwhile, 68 pints were collected during a two-hour blood donation drive at the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) on Monday.

The campaign was held in collaboration with the Blood Donation Centre of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.

BKISHHB Research Officer Amalina binti Junggal said the campaign lent support to those in need by helping to replenish blood supplies at the hospital.
