Over 100 participate in fire drill

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) conducted a fire drill in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) on Wednesday.

The drill was held to assess the preparedness of AITI’s fire marshals, first aiders and employees in the event of an emergency as part of the organisation’s initiatives in promoting a healthy and safe work environment.

The scenario of the drill was that a fire broke out at the organisation’s premises. Fire alarms resonated throughout the floors, initiating evacuation procedures of both buildings.

Firefighters arrived at the scene within five minutes and doused the fire, while AITI’s fire marshals and first aiders rescued and tended to two ‘injured’ employees.

The exercise involved six firefighters from Operation ‘C’ Branch of the Berakas Fire Station and one fire engine led by Acting SO Tony bin Tanda.

More than 100 AITI employees, visitors and contractors participated in the drill.

Also present were of Berakas Fire Station Commander ASFR Mushidee bin Junaidi, Public Relations Office of FRD headquarters, Operation ‘C’ Branch Public Relations Unit and AITI senior management.
