More than 100 riders across the nation gathered along Jalan Sungai, Kuala Belait for a long scenic ride from the Belait District to Temburong District as part of the Patriotic Expedition Ride yesterday. Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Penghulu of Mukim Bukit Sawat Yang Berhormat Salleh bin Haji Othman, the guest of honour, flagged off the riders.

Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) President Pengiran Haji Redzuan bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad welcomed the guest of honour.

Acting Special Duties Officer Grade II at the Malay Islamic Monarchy Supreme Council (MTMIB) Secretariat Office Rushdi bin Haji Abdul Rahman was also present.

The LegCo member handed over the national flag to the PEMODA president which was flown throughout their journey to the Temburong District.

The ceremony continued with the singing of the patriotic song, Berkibarlah Bendera, accompanied by the waving of the national flag. In a show of appreciation, both PEMODA and MTMIB handed over tokens of appreciation to the guest of honour.

After a safety briefing, the riders convened at their bikes along Jalan Sungai where they formed a convoy to be flagged off by the guest of honour.

The convoy made their way to the final destination in Pekan Bangar, Temburong District where they were welcomed by the LegCo member and Village Head of Kampong Labu Estate and Piasau-Piasau Yang Berhormat Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir.

Conducted in conjunction with the 39th National Day celebrations, the Patriotic Expedition Ride was organised by PEMODA in collaboration with MTMIB with an aim to help foster patriotism.
