The Department of Co-Curriculum Education at the Ministry of Education (MoE), through its Uniform and Community Service Unit, held a two-day blood donation drive that concluded at the RIPAS Hospital Blood Donation Centre yesterday.

The campaign, held in conjunction with the ministry’s 5th Fastabiqul Khairat 2020 Project, drew in 109 donors. The event was aimed at providing an opportunity for officers and staff of MoE as well as members of the public to answer the call by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar to donate blood.

Mortar Events also joined in on the effort to replenish the blood bank at the hospital on April 1.

Four pints of blood were collected during the company’s blood donation drive.

Mortar Events Human Resource Assistant Lai Ling Ling, in a press statement, said, “It’s a part of our social duty to do whatever we can to help. While a lot of people have donated blood, the demand is still very high.”

She added, “We are making blood donation a part of our healthy lifestyle programme to promote volunteerism.”

Mortar Events is an event management agency that focusses on strategic event planning and digital marketing. The start-up company is set to return to the Blood Donation Centre in two months to continue its support for the initiative.
