Jerudong International School (JIS) held a Year 10 to Year 12 Celebration of Achievement ceremony at the JIS Arts Centre yesterday.
Principal Nicholas Sheehan, and senior members of the school attended the ceremony led by Senior School Student Council members and award recipients.
Students who demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership and engagement
The principal said the day was an occasion to celebrate the school’s upper year students’ hard work and dedication.
“Throughout the year, these students have demonstrated exceptional achievement in the curriculum and co-curricular enrichment programme,” he said.
He added, “They have shown dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence. Their journey through the upper years so far has been a testament to their resilience and determination.”
The principal also highlighted the students’ other qualities.
“In addition to their academic achievements, these students have consistently displayed leadership skills and a spirit of engagement,” he said.
“They have taken on various roles and responsibilities within the school community, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all.
“Furthermore, their willingness to collaborate and work harmoniously with their peers has enhanced their growth and development.”
Among the students who were awarded during the day was Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah for the Outstanding Academic Effort Award and the JIS Teaspoons of Change Award.
Her Royal Highness had previously received a Gold Award in the Intermediate Maths Challenge (IMC), run by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT).
Also awarded at the ceremony were various Ministry of Education scholars, who were praised for their Outstanding Academic Effort and Achievement: Maryam Mazini (Year 10), Illyas Ilham Rohaidi (Year 10), Syafigah Sepiee (Year 10), Haris Romi Irwin (Year 11), Nasriyah Nor Asilin (Year 11), Nasriyah Nor Asilin (Year 11), Aleesya Abdul Rahman (Year 12), Afiq Rahman (Year 12), Nazif Nadzri Radhi (Year 12), Amal Azerin (Year 12), Shannon Lau (Year 12) and Ain Aji (Year 12). – Adib Noor
