Outstanding students acknowledged for excellence

Seven high-achieving students received awards for obtaining excellent grade of A and A* at the Brunei Cambridge GC (BC GCE) A and AS-level for October and November 2022. The students who obtained grade A and A* in three subjects were Fazeera Almas, Sherylyn Sea Chien Yin and Stephania anak Vincent.

Meanwhile, students who obtained four A and A* were Ahmad Akmal bin Ahmad Kamal, Asqina Nur Amalia binti Haji Noh, Sea Sze Ying and Muhammad Syahmi Fahmi bin Haji Suhaimi while the Excellent Student Award was presented to Fazeera.

Tutong Sixth Form Centre’s (PTET) former principal Hajah Murni binti Abdullah was the guest of honour. PTET’s Acting Principal Muhmmad Shahnofazli bin Haji Sabli, Deputy Principal Koo Keung Eng and PTET’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTET-PIBG) Chairman Haji Roslan bin Datu Hulubalang Haji Abdul Wahab and PTET-PIBG members also attended the ceremony.

“The on-going process of achieving excellence should not be limited to academics but also holistically. Excellence is a reflection of individual students’ hope, dreams and desire or outlook that is never ending,” said Muhammad Shahnofazli in his welcoming remarks.

He added that PTET has continuously helped students receive a holistic education through initiatives such as the privileged guided learning (PrivGL) programme, peer mentoring programme (PMP), creating a school attendance management system provided by the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education, and Hubbul Quran programme.

He said PTET is grateful to see 74.14 per cent of students obtain three A-levels, 91.38 per cent obtain two A-Levels and 96.55 per cent obtain at least one A-Level in 2022.

PTET aims to achieve 85 per cent of students obtaining three A-levels, 95 per cent obtaining two A levels and 100 per cent obtaining at least one A-level for this year.

The awards presented were Excellent Grade A in three A-Level subjects, Excellent 300 Tariff Points and above, Excellent in each subject, Best Student in PrivGL, Best Mentor-Mentee in PMP, Mentor achieving at least four hours of mentoring in PMP, student under Miftahun Najaah 2022 scheme, the presentation of Appreciation certificates and prizes for tutors and Department achieving the national target for AS and A-level exam, Motivational prizes, Hadion’s Mathematics award, Bryan Hayshum Science Excellence Award (BHSEA), and the presentation of graduation certificates for students of the year 2020/2021. The event also saw Fazeera Almas delivering a speech to the audience. A video titled Hang Tuah Bertikam Dengan Hang Jebat, created by upper six students of Malay Literature studies was also screened. – James Kon
