Outgoing ambassadors highlight warm friendship, memories

HEADS of foreign missions to Brunei Darussalam expressed delight and gratefulness on their tenure in Brunei Darussalam, highlighting warm friendship and fond memories shared.

Outgoing ambassadors, Amphay Kindavong, Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Brunei Darussalam; Hisham bin Abdul Wahab bin Abdullah Zaraa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam; and Abdolhamid Fekri, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Brunei Darussalam expressed these in their speeches during a farewell luncheon at The Rizqun International Hotel.

The luncheon began with a speech by the Acting Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Dr Fahad Mashary Al-Thafiri, Ambassador of Kuwait to Brunei Darussalam.

Dr Fahad Mashary Al-Thafiri said the ambassadors have not only contributed greatly in strengthening the relations between their countries and Brunei but also left their marks within the diplomatic community, adding that their collaboration and support to the diplomatic community was a demonstration of the exemplary diplomats they were during their tenure.

Amphay Kindavong hailed the friendly and warm relationships between Laos and Brunei and the exchange visits among all levels, and noted that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The outgoing Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, extended his immense gratitude and admiration to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Government and brotherly people of Brunei for the assistance and kind cooperation in the betterment of the two brotherly diplomatic ties, while adding that the great support helped them to achieve their duties and responsibilities at the very best level.

The outgoing Iranian Ambassador, Abdolhamid Fekri said, “Within three years we participated in many functions, ceremonies and gatherings, sitting next to each other and spent good times. The result is friendship and many good memories with us.”
