Orphan students get nudge in right direction

A SHARING session on learning methods and a motivational talk for orphans was held at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiarong yesterday, in conjunction with the 73rd birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The session focussed on orphan students in Year 9 and Year 10, who will be sitting for the Brunei-Cambridge O’ Level and IGCSE.

Over 40 orphans attended the talk by Ahmad Anwaar bin Muhammad Saifullah, a final year medical student (2019/2020) of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, who actively holds motivational educational talks and activities to develop students in the Sultanate and Malaysia.

Ahmad shared his motivational talk experiences, the latest learning methods (that included time management, self-thinking and self-regulating methods) and the mindset towards maturity and excellence.

The talk aimed to motivate students towards academic excellence, and share methods of effective learning.

Present at the event were Acting Director of Schools, Department of Schools, Ministry of Education Zainal Abidin bin Haji Kepli; Founder of Avicenna Resources Nor Alina binti Haji Ramli and representatives from Islamic Studies Department.
