‘Ops Selamat’: Kota Kinabalu police focussing on four ‘hot spots’

KOTA KINABALU (Bernama) – Police will be focussing on four accident hot spots in the district during the road safety operation Ops Selamat 14 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year festive period.

Kota Kinabalu Police Chief ACP Habibi Majinji said the ‘hot spots’ which recorded high rates of accidents in the past are Jalan Lintas, Jalan Tuaran Bypass, Jalan Kepayan and Jalan Tun Fuad.

“Throughout the operation, traffic policemen would be present at these areas, conducting patrols and enforcement action against offences contributing to road accidents,” he said after launching Ops Selamat 14 at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman yesterday.

On a different note, he said police arrested 59 individuals, 29 of them foreigners, under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 in operations carried out around Telipok and Sembulan on January 26.

“Sixteeen were in possession of drugs while 43 were found positive for drugs after urine tests,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added those arrested were between 17 and 55 years old and police seized 21.64 grammes of drugs worth approximately RM3,250.
