Opportunity to study in Canada

The Canada-ASEAN SEED (Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development), a short-term exchange initiative programme under Global Affairs Canada’s International Scholarships Programme, is now receiving applications from Bruneian students, and those from ASEAN member states for the 2023 to 2024 academic session.

The programme aims at providing opportunities for students from ASEAN member states, including Brunei, to conduct short-term study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions in areas that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Currently nine Bruneian students, all from Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), are in Canada, pursuing under- and post-graduate studies in different fields under the programme.

Canadian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Ambra Dickie said, “I encourage Bruneian students to take advantage of this opportunity to advance their studies and experience the amazing quality of life that Canada offers. Canada has an affordable cost of life with world-class livability in our cities. Seven Canadian universities are in The Times Ranking top 200. I hope to see more Bruneians choose Canada as their next education destination.”

Applying students must be Bruneian citizens, studying full-time at a post-secondary institution in Brunei and paying tuition fees to that institution and for the full duration of the exchange, to be eligible for the programme with the value of the programme can be between CAD10,200 to CAD15,900 depending on the duration of the study or research.

Students should contact their education institution’s international office to learn about the application process and admission requirements for the Canadian institutions.
