Opportunity to polish local, foreign golfers’ talents

The International Amateur Open Golf Championship in conjunction with the 76th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has been scheduled for September 2 to 4 at Pantai Mentiri Golf Club (PMGC).

This was announced during a press conference at PMGC yesterday. Co-Chairman of the Golf Tournament Committee Haji Abdul Saman bin Haji Ahmad explained that the annual event serves to enliven His Majesty’s birthday celebration. “The tournament also provides a platform for local and foreign golfers to polish their talents and forge closer ties.”

He said this year’s edition has five categories including open categories for all players according to their handicap – Division A, Division B and Division C; Senior Citizen; Women; and VIPs and Championship sponsors.

“Apart from a chance to grab the trophy contributed by ASAFF Group for the male and female categories, golfers also stand a chance to win a ‘Hole in One’ prize sponsored by Boustead Sdn Bhd, Happy Motoring Co Sdn Bhd and Lim Han Chiong for all ‘Hole 3 Par’.

“Novelty prizes will also be provided to players who score ‘Nearest to the Pin’,” the co-chairman said.

The prize presentation will be held on September 4, 2022 at 2pm at PMGC.

Also present at the press conference were Co-Chairman of the Golf Tournament Committee Haji Abdul Aziz bin Md Kassim and committee members.
