Operations nab 22 offenders

Twenty-two foreign nationals were detained by the Law Enforcement Division of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) in Operasi Tumpas JIPK 10/2022, 11/2022 and 12/2022 conducted in Brunei-Muara, Belait and Temburong districts.

Operasi Tumpas JIPK 10/2022 and 11/2022 conducted on February 7, from 9.30am-4.30pm inspected unregistered car wash businesses operated by foreigners. Some 55 officers from INRD detained 19 foreigners for violations under Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act and Regulations. The violations include working for different employers and not holding the job as stated in their working passes.

Operasi Tumpas JIPK 12/2022 was conducted at government premises in Mukim Bangar where three foreigners were detained. On inspection, law enforcement officers found one of them violating Regulation 15 (1), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act for overstaying after his immigration pass had expired while two violated Regulation 15 (3), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act for contrasting the job position in the work pass. They were brought to the Law Enforcement Division of the INRD for further investigation.

Those violating immigration pass regulations will face a fine of BND600, the work passes revoked and deported to their country of origin, and their names blacklisted while employers will be fined BND3,000 for each immigration offender hired.
