THE Ministry of Defence (MinDef) held an award presentation ceremony for retired and outstanding civilian personnel for 2018 during the MinDef Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration event yesterday.
The event took place at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC).
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour. Also present were the Defence Executive Committee members, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) service commanders, directors, commandants, military and civilian personnel and guests.
During the presentation ceremony, four personnel received the ‘Civil Service Excellence Employee Award’ (APCPA) for 2018. The ‘Special Appreciation for Civil Service Staff Award’ (PKKPA) was also awarded to a personnel in recognition for the contributions and services rendered to the ministry while 76 retiring personnel received their certificate.
The Minister of Defence II emphasised on the importance of integrity and togetherness which is in line with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah calling for emphasis on the importance of integration with whole of nation approach and the whole of government approach to achieve Brunei Vision 2035.
The event continued with a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. Booths with the theme Evolusi Raya Kitani showed the evolution of Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations in Brunei Darussalam from the 1960 to the future in 2035.
Other highlights included the best Hari Raya video and also best dressed competition.
National Insurance Company Berhad
TWO hundred and fourteen agents and business associates attended a Hari Raya celebration hosted by National Insurance Company Berhad (NICB) at the Millennium Restaurant.
General Manager of NICB Klaus Tomalla and the management team welcomed the guests. The NICB team mingled with the guests while they enjoyed delicacies served during the luncheon.
The festive celebration was organised to strengthen business relationships between the agents, business associates and the NICB team.

DAR El Ehsan Travel Sdn Bhd hosted a Hari Raya gathering for its clients, corporate partners, associates and customers. The event was held at the residence of Dar El Ehsan Managing Director Haji Ahmad Baihaki bin Md Taha. Also attending were Executive Director Dayangku Suriana binti Pengiran Bubin, Director of Operations Haji Shamsul Baharin bin Haji Ahmad Rahman as well as officers and staff of Dar El Ehsan.
Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd

BRUNEI LNG Sdn Bhd hosted a Hari Raya open house with its key stakeholders and the Mukim Liang community at the Liang Lumut Recreation Club (LLRC) yesterday.
Brunei LNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Patrice Girard welcomed the guests alongside the leadership team.
Those in attendance included senior government officials, management and staff of companies, grassroots leaders, school representatives and residents of Mukim Liang.
In addition to the food, guests enjoyed songs performed by staff as well as Raya-themed games.
Brunei LNG also set up an information corner where guests participate in educational quizzes to learn more about the company and its business.
Established in 1969, Brunei LNG will celebrate its 50th anniversary in December.

PEAK Performance organised a Hari Raya celebration to show appreciation to their subscribers, stakeholders, partners, clients and guests.
The guest of honour was Permanent Secretary (Policy and Fiscal) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Norliah binti Haji Kula in her capacity as the chairperson of Peak Performance. Also present were members of the board of custodian of Baitul Amanah, teachers of participants from Ri’ayah Wa Mahabbah.
McDonald’s Brunei supported the event with activities and gifts to the guests.
The highlight was the presentation of gifts to participants from Ri’ayah Wa Mahabbah and Baitul Amanah.
DST in Belait, Tutong

MORE than 600 special needs guests and their parents and guardians, were invited to celebrate Hari Raya with DST yesterday morning. The event was held simultaneously in Tutong and Belait districts.
In Belait District, the celebration was held at the convention centre located at Kuala Belait. Individuals from four non-governmental organisations (NGOs) agencies – Pusat Ehsan Al Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, The Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA), Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei and Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh attended.
Also present were representatives from all four NGOs – Hamimah binti Haji Sapar, Rafidah binti Hidup, Awang bin Haji Ramli and Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman.
Welcoming the guests was chairman of the organising committee in the Belait District Manager for the IT Group in the Belait District Branch Muhammad Azizul Amir bin Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Haji Hasrin.
The guests were treated to food and drinks accompanied by entertainment such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri song performances.
At the end of the event, the children received Hari Raya green packets and goodies.
DST will conclude its Hari Raya celebrations with special needs individuals in the Brunei-Muara District at the International Convention Centre on July 5.

THIRTEEN customers who purchased Volkswagen vehicles were rewarded with prizes from Maju Motors Sdn Bhd, the distributor of Volkswagen vehicles in the country, during a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house yesterday.
The celebration at the showroom of Maju Motors saw Nur Sakinah Nazirah binti Salim walking home with the first prize of BND3,000 while Ezzah Nurain binti Hairosah won BND1,500 for second prize and the third prize of BND750 went to Sumitro.
The draw for the top three prizes were made by General Manager of Maju Motors Awangku Md Abdul Aziz bin Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Ratna Wijaya Pengiran Haji Hasnan. He also presented the prizes.
Meanwhile, Dayangku Rafidahtul Abadiah, Syazwani binti Rafaie, Siti Aisyah Zawiyah binti Md Riza, Awangku Muhammad Amirul Na’im bin Pengiran Ali and Rusnah binti Anggas/Angas walked home with a BND100 shopping voucher each. The draw was made by Sales Manager Mohammad Shahnon Azizan bin Haji Abdullah who also gave the prizes to the winners.
The prize of the car polishing voucher went to Mohammad Johari bin Asnan, Mohamad Naim bin Mohamd Shafiee, Wazini Noraziemah binti Abdul Tuah, Hajah Norjanah binti Haji Bingsu and Mohamad Redzuan bin Metussin. Service Manager Manjunath Talawar made the draw and presented the prizes.
Mohd Hasmee bin Abdul Salam won an Apple iPad Air.

BURGER King Brunei, under the management of Sinofood Express, donated BND2,000 to Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam during a ceremony held at its Citis Square branch yesterday.
Assistant Marketing Manager of Burger King Brunei Noor Aziemah binti Ahmad presented the mock cheque to Acting Head of Administration of Pusat Ehsan Nurul Huda binti Haji Muhin.
The guests were also treated with food and drinks sponsored by Burger King as part of the Hari Raya celebration.
