The Belait Sixth Form Centre (PTE Belait) continued its Open Day on Monday, following the opening day full of visits from secondary school students across the district.

The second day saw students from Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School, Sayyidina Ali Secondary School, Perdana Wazir Secondary School, Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait and Chung Ching Middle School visiting the sixth form centre.

PTE Belait Principal Pengiran Hajah Zeiniun binti Pengiran Mudin explained the importance of the Open Day, as the school began operations earlier this year.

The Open Day itself, she added, serves to familiarise prospective students with the learning environment.

“PTE Belait is a relatively new campus focussing on pre-university education in the Belait District. While it is not a newly formed school, we only officially moved to this new campus late last year,” she said.

With 112 students in their second year and 46 teachers and staff, she believed this figure will rise, due to the influx of newly registered students.

“While the open day is an annual tradition for the centre, this is the first time that it is being held at the new campus. It aims to guide potential students wishing to pursue further studies in sixth form,” she said.

PTE Belait Deputy Principal of Administration of Mohd Shamry bin Haji Md Sani and Deputy Principal of Academic Lee Siew Peng @ Joanne were also present.

At the event, the classrooms were open to visitors to gather information on the subjects on offer through exhibitions.

Visitors were also briefed on the academic requirements and school regulations, as well as attended a motivational talk by the school counsellor.
